5.10 The VOHeroes leaderboard

It’s important to understand that this pursuit of VO excellence isn’t a race.

Any “race” you feel you need to be a part of, to somehow beat other VO talent for knowledge, skills, auditions and work isn’t a “race” with them at all. If anything, the only race to be run is a race against yourself: a race with your own engagement level, practice, experience and more.

You’re always going to be ahead of some, and you’re always going to be behind some others.

That being said, it’s a lovely thing to introduce some healthy and friendly competition when it comes to our coursework.

Behold, the VOHeroes Leaderboard:

This keeps track of, and displays for the world to see, your progress in not just your coursework, but also your involvement in everything you do on the site. You get points for all kinds of activities, like:

• Log in to the VOHeroes site
• Complete any course
• Successfully pass a quiz
• Post a discussion in ProConnect
• Leave a reply in ProConnect

…and more! And as you complete courses, you’ll also rise in levels, 1 through 10, and achieve titles and rankings that let everyone know how awesome you are.

One thing to note: the points and leaderboard system rewards you for taking the courses in order, so if you jump around, the points and ranking might not be accurate.

It’s a fun way to track your progress, and if you’re super competitive, you can smugly watch your points grow as you vanquish your fellow VOHero.

And when you get to Pro Emeritus, you leave the Levels behind and acquire that new Emeritus title.
