How Am I Doing? I’m Gobsmacked. That’s How Am I Doing.

Hey there!
So…I’ve been asked a lot yesterday and today via text, email and phone…
“How’d the surgery go? How are you doing?”
And the answer is that the surgery happened yesterday. I’m ready for weeks or even months of immobility and rehab after my shoulder surgery.
That’s not what will happen, though.
Hope this helps!

hey there it’s David H Lawrence the 17th
and I did not expect to be talking to
you this fast after my surgery I had a
video scheduled for today as well as
about 20 more videos that I will be
playing as time goes on and I did not
expect to be able to even sit at my
console I expected to be in this sling
that they gave me for the next I you
know I read anywhere from three days to
20 weeks depending upon what kind of
surgery you know this this thing was
just wrapped around me today I had my
surgery yesterday and I went to the
doctor today to get the pain pump
removed it was like a bag of morphine
that was sitting taped to my shoulder
and and you know I would I there was
oxycodone prescribed for me which I
haven’t had to use there was all of
these PDFs that I read ahead of time of
this surgery what I had was arthroscopic
shoulder surgery in this shoulder and it
it was scary it was it was like you’re
not going to be able to move for weeks
or months you’re not going to be able to
lift anything the tendon they repaired a
a what turned out to be a slightly
shredded tendon you know nicked but not
broken and moving a bone spur and I was
I was ready for the worst I really was
and you know I went you know went
through the day yesterday after the
surgery and they had a pain block put
into me so I couldn’t feel anything
couldn’t feel my my whole arm was numb I
couldn’t feel anything went to sleep
last night had a little bit of trouble
sleeping but it was because of you know
again some I had set up a wedge in my
bed so that I didn’t have to lay flat
and it turned out that it was less
comfortable than just laying down flat
with this this you know this thing on
 this sling
and and so anyway the point is I had a
great night’s sleep went to my doctor
today for the day after removal of the
pain pump and he said yeah you’re you’re
 looking great
show me how high you can raise your arm
and I could feel my arm at that point
now so I raised it to about here which
is where I can raise it now I can’t
raise it above that but he said you know
do your your your shoulder exercise I
didn’t think I would be able to move I
didn’t think I would be allowed to move
for weeks but I can type and I can do
all these things the day after the
surgery this is crazy I had prepared 21
days in advance on these videos for
example and I had you know cancelled all
of my my scheduled appointments and put
people off for coaching and for you know
demo production and privates and things
like that I’d gotten somebody to cover
for me for the the Pro Connect live and
and moved my live session which was to
be next Tuesday to earlier this week
because I just wanted to be sure I
didn’t want to disappoint anybody and
what it turns out is there are certain
levels there are multiple levels of the
things that can happen to you and I
thought I was gonna be in that sling
forever here let me I’m not don’t get
crazy I’m not but I just wanted to show
you what my shoulder looks like I have a
couple of marks from when they did the
surgery and I have a couple of band-aids
I have three little tiny teeny tiny
holes in my shoulder that you know I
have to be careful of I’m not gonna be
able to shower for another day or so but
when I do I’m gonna have to use
waterproof bandages my point is I read
and got ready for something that was a
lot worse than what they found when they
got in there they found that the bone
spur was nice and big but that it hadn’t
really torn the the rotator cuff as much
as they had thought it was a pretty you
know gnarly bone spur but it wasn’t as
bad as they thought it was gonna be so
I’ve got this I’ve got this wonderful
 gift of you know
not you know I had a day of tenderness
and it’s gonna be tender for a long time
to come but I start physical therapy
tomorrow what yeah you know I’m actually
starting it today because he gave me
some exercises to do with my shoulder
that are very very easy on the shoulder
but I was really surprised you know you
can wear the sling if it makes you feel
more comfortable but you don’t have to
you can even sleep on the shoulder but
probably not a good idea for the first
few weeks because it can be painful
still haven’t had to take any of the
oxycodone just taking some Tylenol oh I
read that I shouldn’t take anything with
acetaminophen in it because it’s a blood
thinner and he goes oh yeah that’s if
you if we have to repair the tendon and
you don’t want it to you know slow down
the healing but yeah you can have if you
like a leave rather than Tylenol go for
it I’m just I’m really thankful and I’ll
tell you another thing I’m thankful for
there is a very good chance that you
have sent me get well wishes because
dozens and dozens and dozens of people
have either text or email or phone calls
or you know messages in comments it’s
it’s been like thank you thank you so
much you have no idea what a difference
it makes or maybe you do know what a
difference it makes I mean I had
imagined spending this week watching a
lot of television that I had on my DVR
and I’m also doing a really quick pre
launch of vo2 Go Go 2020 you may have
seen the video where Michelle took my
mind off something and I just really
quickly put together something that I
could kind of manage this week with the
with the free time that I had and just
to summarize real quickly I’m offering a
four month payment plan rather than the
whole twenty four ninety five which is
our launch price for vo2 Go Go we have a
week where we register people and we
drop the price by five hundred dollars
for the full on full bore vo2 gogo
program the pro curriculum for 2020
we’re launching in September and I
thought well maybe I can give people an
 opportunity
make four equal payments of that no
interest no fees and if you want to
check that out it’s vo to go go comm
slash twenty twenty but I thought okay I
could manage that I can answer questions
I get by pecking with one hand and for
the first day that’s what I did you know
but then I didn’t have pain overnight I
 didn’t have pain this morning I don’t
have pain now you know it’s a little
sore but it’s like the soreness that you
get after you have over exercised or
whatever and yeah I can’t raise my arm
as high as I will be able to but it’s 24
hours literally 24 hours after I was
released from the clinic from the
 surgery I mean it’s amazing it’s just
amazing and there are one two three tiny
little tiny holes in my shoulder I’m
just amazed and I just wanted to share
with you I thank you so much for your
kindness and your well wishes and for
your encouragement many of you have sent
me a few of you sent me meditations
Karen Eileen Gordon who’s a Reiki Reiki
healer she sent me Reiki good thoughts
and and power and you know I don’t I
don’t understand any of that but clearly
something happened cuz I didn’t do this
 on my own
so how am I feeling I’m gobsmacked I’m
 amazed I’m spectacular I’m excited I’m
really really excited about the next
part of this journey and getting back
the use of my arm I joked with my my
surgeon I said so I’m gonna be able to
still throw that sinking fastball right
and he goes yeah dude were you able to
perform like no it’s like well we’ll do
what we can um but anyway that’s what I
wanted to share with you I rescheduled
the video that was gonna come out
tonight for the end of the videos that
I’ve set up for you and if something
pops up for me I’ll jump in and do a
video but there’s some great stuff
coming I want to thank you so much
please leave me a comment just you know
if you’ve ever been surprised by
 something really spectacular that you
 didn’t expect I imagined it’s happened a
lot of times but I’d love to know and
you know I just like to thank you just
 thank you

Hi David:) Great that you’re doing so well after the surgery!! Yay!!
There’s a childlike merriment in your voice and manner that really conveys your veritable glee at your quick recovery! I am SO, so happy to hear you’re recovering so well, and I can’t wait to get back to work with you again soon! Now, as my father says, do what you’re s’posed to! Speedy healing!
Nice LBJ moment. 😉 Glad to hear that you’re doing so well. Avoid using the oxy if you don’t need it (burn the script if you haven’t filled it yet). Tylenol or Aleive should be more than enough. Ask your doctor about topicals or pain patches instead. You’re still on the prayer list. Take care, and don’t overdo it.
So glad to hear you’re doing well. I think the fact you prepared for the absolute worst, helps in having the outcome you have had. May it continue to progress in a great way.
Happy tears!!! I’m so relieved and elated for you, David!! This IS a gift!! Take your time and recover fully!! Thank you for sharing this with us.
So good to know you’re doing amazingly well post-op!!! Keep up the speedy recovery and that positive attitude. You really “got this”!
This is FANTASTIC! I am so happy for your good news. You should, however, watch a few movies and some television! Why waste a perfectly good excuse? LOL!
I’m SO happy to hear your great experience. It’s interesting how we can imagine the biggest things that can go wrong, and psych ourselves out. Then the experience actually turns out to be just the opposite – positive, miraculous, even. Not at all what we worried about.
I wonder how/why we do this in other aspects of our lives – including our VO careers?
Food for thought, and another life lesson to be considered.
We appreciate you showing us another side of your humility and the wonderful person you are.
Happy thoughts, vibes, and prayers for a healthy healing journey.
Thank you for all you do,
I’m so happy you’re healing so well! I had my third child this past year, and I expected to be on near bedrest for a month like my first 2. My second required over a year of physical therapy for painful nerve damage that had a slight chance of never healing. It did, thank goodness! So I had my baby #3 and that same day I was walking around my hospital room carrying him around like it was no big deal! I even elected to go home a day early to be with my 3 & 2 yr old and husband. I had never in a million years thought recovery from the birth of a child that easy was ever an option! Congrats on an amazing recovery. I very much look forward to recording my demo with you in June but if you need to reschedule, please don’t hesitate, I completely understand!
So glad it went well!
This is great news, David! I’m so glad your recovery is moving along so much faster than you thought it would! I hope you are still able to take it easy and relax. 🙂 Also – Thank you for offering the 4 month payment plan! It has turned out to be a birthday gift from my awesome husband. I signed up and am looking forward to getting started with VO2GOGO Pro!
Hi David! So glad you’re having a wonderful experience. I, too, had arthroscopic surgery and was prepared for the worst after seeing the videos and reading the info. 10 days and three bandaids later, I am also gobsmacked at how far I’ve come! Congratulations on your continued healing and let’s hear it for modern technology and robotic surgery!
SOOO Happy for you! Great News! So glad to hear the happiness in your voice :-)!
David, so pleased to hear it went very well for you. I too was praying for you and will continue to pray for quick healing and total mobility again. Yippee!!!!!
David,
How wonderful that you are feeling so good after your surgery! If you feel fatigued, listen to your body and rest. Good job doing your exercises already! You won’t regret it.
I am so happy for you.
Mary
Hooray!! This is absolutely GREAT news!!!! Love how excited you are about everything!!! I’m giggling right along with you!
David, I had gotten busy and had not been keeping up with your “daily chats” so was unaware of your upcoming surgery.
That being said, I am so happy for you and how you “dodged the bullet” here. So many times we do a number on ourselves mentally about an upcoming event, overthink it and over-plan for all the possible
outcomes.
Now celebrate your good fortune and go ease someone else who may need a few words of comfort..pay it forward.
And whatever you do… pay attention before you step out in traffic and don’t get taken out by a speeding car or truck!! You don’t want to explain that one at the “Pearly Gates” LOL…
Regards Jon
I am so glad that you are healing well. 🙂
Excellent news! Glad it went so well.
The PT will work miracles…
So glad to hear that you are doing so well! Wishing you all the best!
Yeah! So happy to hear how well you are doing. Congrats.
Glad you’re doing well. Looks like you may have a speedy recovery. Thankfully I was able to avoid surgery due to physiotherapy and stubbornness to do a little more exercises everyday. Yes you will start small and gradually you will be able to do more exercise. I too had a shoulder problem in which I had a labral tear and fracture hyoid bone which is deep in the shoulder which is attach to the clavicle I believe. I could only lift my arm up as high as you can or it was a little higher but in time got full range of motion. Anyways hope this is a little encouraging and I’m glad you’re so well after surgery. Hope it’s a speedy recovery in which it appears it may be.
I had something similar when I had my knee replacements. The first one in 2013 was incredibly painful. But I eventually got through it. In 2015 I was dreading the second one but was pleasantly surprised by the changes in procedures in just that short time. I was in PT within a week and back to work months earlier.
Ain’t technology and research grand?!?
Now, be a good boy and do what the therapists say and you’ll be fine. * grin *
So glad you’re doing so well. Coming through something like this is such a relief that it’s invigorating. Congrats on a great outcome. I’m sure you will have a spectacular recovery. Do those exercises and therapy!
I’m so delighted and grateful to hear this and to see you looking so good and so happy!!
Glad to hear your surgery went so well. You look great, you sound great, and your happiness over your recovery is fun to see. Regarding your request for a comment, I’ll state again how getting the part after my first on camera audition was a fantastic surprise that I didn’t expect. Thanks for the video David.
What a wonderful result ! Looking forward to many more years of your superb coaching.
Glad it all turned out for the better than good!
I’m so glad your procedure went smoothly and you are managing your pain without heavy duty pain-killers. You look great! Keep on being gobsmacked!
Woohoo!! So happy the surgery went so well and you’re back at the console raring to go!
Precious David! So glad it’s going great!!!!!!!
Great news!!! I’m so happy that all the love and prayers are working and I’m wishing you a speedy recovery, which it seems like you’re having already! Take good care of yourself and don’t be a hero! We want you on a fast, yet steady mend.
xoxoxoxoxo
Great News! Continue to do well!
