0042: Why It’s Easier To Go From 1 To 10 Than To Go From 0 To 1

Hey there, hero!

Let’s talk about how hard it is sometimes just to get started…to go from nothing to something…and why it’s actually a lot easier to go from something to something better.

An investor was talking about this the other day, and put in perspective thoughts that had been rolling around in my brain, but were brought into clear focus by his comments.

They might be helpful to you, especially in our world of performance.

I’m always interested to find out if the message I have for you is landing…is it easier for you to get started on something new, or is it easier once you’ve gotten going to go from 1 to 10? Let me know in the comments below.

  1. Agreed! I’ve heard very similar advice from writing coaches. They say when you do a first draft, just get the words on the page, no matter how bad they are. Because when you go back and clean it all up, you’re not writing, you’re REwriting, and rewriting (making existing words better) is much easier than writing (creating words from nothing).

  2. Agreed! I believe the hardest part of anything is getting past that initial first step, like a locomotive starting from rest.

  3. Sooooo, soooooooo stuck in midst of this right now!!! Thank you for the sharing what is now for me a visual representation in my mind through your words.
