VIDEO: Are Auditions Causing You A Complete Meltdown?

Hey there!

On-camera, VO, commercials, theatre…we find ourselves as performers being asked to open our little suitcases and show the buyers our wares.

Auditioning can be the most stressful actions we’re asked to take. I watch people sweat bullets in the waiting room, and always have the same piece of powerful advice.

Just listen to what Michael Kostroff has to say about it.

And what’s his most powerful piece of advice?

Well, Michael has a lot to say, frankly. More than would ever fit on this page.

But the biggest thing is this:

Don’t make the mistake of creating rules for yourself about auditioning that aren’t even close to being true.

(More on that in the video below.)

And he knows what he’s talking about. Look at that mug up there – that’s him, and you’ve seen him everywhere: TV, film, stage…the man has a MORE button on his IMDB page.

Happily, he’s wrapped it in an awesome live seminar, a gleefully big package with a beautiful bow on it, and called it Audition Psych 101.

The one I attended a few years ago here in LA was 4 hours long. And the time flew by. And it was more powerful than any seminar I’ve ever taken on the audition process.

Wait.

Here.

I called Michael up on Skype and chatted with him about it.

So, once again, it’s called Audition Psych 101. Here’s the website to find out more:

Hope this helps.

  1. Very exciting! I can’t wait until Michael is in LA (or makes an ondemand version!) Also, I have to take a moment to appreciate how great you are at promoting other people David! I enjoy your enthusiasm and genuine promotion of others in the industry and it’s very refreshing every time. Thank you for sharing this with all of us and what an interesting skype video – normally something like this wouldn’t have held my attention for so long but you and Michael had a great rapport.

  2. Thank you so much for posting this, David. I loved it and it really inspired me. I hope to attend one of Michael’s seminars soon!
