13182: Is It Too Late For You?

Hey there, hero!

This episode is for you if you feel like you missed the boat. That you’re too old to be the artist you want to be. So…

We tell ourselves the stories we hear from others.

It’s convenient and reliable.

Sometimes.

But sometimes, the stories we tell ourselves are different from the conventional wisdom. And it’s actually all a choice. It depends on how much you want it.

If you want to switch up what you’re doing in life…you can. Really.

And you actually have an advantage to switch things up. I’ll tell you what that is, boomer (or GenXer) in this episode – I think you might welcome the option I present.

Are you thinking it’s too late for you? Or do you have the resolve to ignore that easy assumption? Let me know in the comments below.

  1. You are always a fabulous source of inspiration!
I am so glad and thankful that I’ve decided to narrate and do voice over and ads and whatever comes up. Once I was aware of these classes and you my inner voice said “If not now, then when?” I always preferred jumping into the deep end!
I thank you for the “push” (or permission).

  2. Hi David,
I have sooo many thoughts about this post. First off THANK YOU! This is just what I needed to hear today. I am in my “2nd Act” as a Voice Actor. I came from Theatre and Dance and I sometimes I really feel like it’s too late to have the career I want in VO. But that makes me think – “Am I diminishing the awesome life I had before this?” And the answer is a resounding YES! I have so much to draw on as an actor from my previous experiences, relationships, and voyages that I have taken and I use those every day. Not to mention my winning personality! 😉
Anyway, thanks for helping me to remember that!! ROCK ON!

  3. Thanks David,

Burning daylight, chasing my dreams. Just turned 60 and just now in a better position for voice & audiobook thanks to ACX MasterClass.

  4. Thank you for this video David!
Your content is always phenomenal. This episode though was fascinatingly right on time and what I needed to hear. Thanks for the encouragement!

  5. Being 70+, I would think at times that I’m too old. But I still get ask to perform vocals with bands, commercials, and writing a one woman show. Thank you so much for your words of encouragement. You truly rock.
