13290: I Ain’t Here For A Long Time, I’m Here For A Good Time

Hey there, hero!

This George Strait song title was shared with me for the first time in my life by a fellow VO talent at a mixer last night.

Thanks, Nadia Ahern.

Mind blown. In a quiet, satisfying way.

And a great reminder of what an awesome choice we’ve all made.

  1. I have a ritual that I participate in almost every day. I get this amazing chocolate chip cookie from a local business. The cookie is four and a half inches wide. I cut it in half and put it on a small plate. I microwave it for 25 seconds. I shut myself in my office with that half of a cookie. I put the window shades down. I turn all the lights off except for my desk lamp, which I turn down to a low intensity. I put on some relaxing Lofi music that has no beat. I pull a piece off the cookie. It’s soft and warm. I put that piece of cookie in my mouth and close my eyes and relish in that delicious cookie. I thank the universe for that cookie, for that moment in time, for the universe itself, for existence, for my life. I do this ritual almost every day.

  2. I read whatever strikes my fancy at the moment. Or I re-listen to lessons from VO Heroes. Or go over past workouts that remind me why I love doing what I do. Or I look for something to audition for or sing my heart out in the shower. Walking in Nature helps, too. And so does remembering to play. These are a few things that help me get out of my head and away from the negatives that surround us every day.
