Our Florida-based VOHeroes instructor Karen-Eileen Gordon has been described as psychic, with killer spreadsheets (she’s a Japanese energy healer and life-long meditator…with a numbers-oriented degree from an Ivy-covered hallowed hall and a big crush on entrepreneurship).
She happily leads one of the monthly VOHeroes live Zoom workouts for our VO students around the globe.
She is an actor-writer-coach-speaker who has logged hundreds of joyful hours on sets and in recording studios all over Los Angeles, Atlanta and Miami—along with romping in thousands of global Zoom squares! Voiceover was one of Karen-Eileen’s first creative loves: while other kiddies frisked in the sunshine, she kidnapped her baby brother and forced him inside to co-create radio dramas (years later, she got to work with BBC Radio Drama in Bristol, England…to create the fancy-pants real stuff!).
Before leaping into the creative world full-time, Karen-Eileen worked in corporate America as an award-winning advertising copywriter and a radio producer for the Armed Forces Radio Network. She brings experience recording for lots of national brands (among them Chevy, McDonalds, Marie Callender’s, Pet Supermarket, Atlantis/Sandals Resorts), deep wells of patience, and a fiery desire to help clients succeed to her coaching experience. Karen-Eileen loves to combine the “invisible” worlds of thought-belief-energy with the measurable worlds of data and practical application—aiming to up-level every aspect of a Voiceover Human’s journey. As a keynote speaker and workshop leader, her favorite subjects involve high-level wellness for VO Artists (“Radical Self-Care”). She’s partnered with universities, casting directors and organizations—including speaking/workshop-leading at one of the largest VO conventions in the world, VO Atlanta! Her mission is empowering fellow artists with game-changing toolkits that they can begin using immediately to thrive.
And Karen’s not only a VOHeroes Coach, she’s one of VOHeroes’ Featured Talent.
Seen on screens large and small, Karen-Eileen was awarded Best Actress by the Beyond the Curve International Film Festival in Paris for her work in the film Lost in Avalon, based on the Legends of King Arthur. Her television adventures include two seasons on the STARZ original drama Magic City, recurring guest-star roles on A&E’s The Glades, and a wholly-improvised turn opposite Larry David on HBO’s Curb Your Enthusiasm. As a film actress, Karen-Eileen is attached as lead to both an independent horror film and political thriller. In the theatre world, she has a mad crush on solo shows; her original piece, 7 from the Light, is an Official Selection of the largest solo theatre festival in the world, United Solo New York. In the voiceover dimension, Karen-Eileen has a long-term love affair with audiobooks, always merrily in production. Animation is also beloved; favorite journeys-so-far include creating multiple goddesses in the Rockstar Games/Take-Two Interactive video game, Grand Theft Auto V and bringing a British stingray to life in the DOVE Award-winning children’s animated series The Fishies.
Originally a Philly Girl, Karen-Eileen grew up in South Florida (Hollywood) before literally moving to the “other” Hollywood to dive fully into the creative pool. A huge lover of the wellness arts, she is a certified yoga instructor with a special joy for Restorative Hatha (RYT200/Yoga Alliance) and long-time Reiki Master. She holds a degree in Economics from Harvard, where her daily changing outgoing voicemail messages got her voted “One of The Ten Funniest” by her ivy-strewn classmates.
Her excellent team includes Matt Chassin Management, Black Apple Talent in Los Angeles (theatrical), Webb Sweeney Murphy in New York (commercial), Landrum Arts LA, BMG Talent Group, J. Pervis Talent, Talent Direct Agency and Stellar Talent Agency.
She is available for one-on-one coaching via Zoom.
